Alphabet Dinosaur Game

Dinosaur Literacy Activities for Preschoolers

This Alpha-Saurus boldly gobbles up letters like I can throw down on some tacos. No shame here.

He even has his own song, which your preschoolers will love to sing and stomp to before they feed him some delicious letters. Chomp, chomp, chomp!

The combination of feeding the dinosaur with singing is like chips and queso – irresistible!

Dinosaur Fossil Alphabet

Dinosaur Sensory Bin

For over forty years, my family has camped at Lake McConaughy. The silky sand lures us in like fish to bait. Naturally, the first thing we do when we get there is allow our feet (and our stress) to melt into that soft sand.

While there are no fossils to find in the sand at Lake McConaughy, there are lettered fossils to dig for this next dinosaur alphabet activity.

Just like how the sand lures us to the lake, your preschoolers won’t be able to resist digging through the silky soft sand to find the fossils—either cut out individually or on a mat taped to the bottom of the sensory bin.

Let your stress of finding your next dinosaur literacy activity melt away, and grab Fossil Find today!

Capture the Dinosaurs Game

Dinosaur Literacy Activities for Preschoolers

This. This is my go-to game for all subjects.

Create a game board or simply arrange flash cards (letters, numbers, sight words, math facts, etc.) in a circle. Place five objects or counters you are trying to capture on any cards. Start your game piece on any space.

The object of the game is to roll the die and move in either direction to try to capture the dinosaurs (in this case).

Your preschoolers will love moving their Jeep and trying to capture the dinosaurs by landing on top, and you will love that they are working on letter identification with every roll of the die.

Materials:

Dinosaur Egg Hunt

Dinosaur Beginning Sounds Activity

A golden monkey named Elmer gets hidden around our house for others to find.

When we find him, we only get a high five and the opportunity to hide him again, so why bother?

Because of the thrill of the hunt, people. That’s why.

And that thrill can also be found in this next dinosaur activity.

Hide eggs containing dinosaur hatchlings with beginning sound pictures around the room. Just like with Easter eggs or Elmer hunting, the excitement will be golden.

Your preschoolers will search for every egg, not realizing the hidden skills of letter identification or beginning sounds.
